On The Lot with Don and Mauricia Hannaman
Don and Mauricia arrived at the MCD lot with their 2001 American Eagle Class A motorhome and were ready for a complete “make-over” with new American Duo™ Day/Night shades in the house and windshield of their American Coach. The third family member is a gray cat named Isaac. Isaac is a unique cat because he went in and out of the motorhome as he pleased without a leash. He did like to be petted though!
The Hannaman’s have owned a recreational vehicle for 13 years and since 2006, when they retired, they spend a lot of time on the road. Mauricia commented, “We chose the RV lifestyle to see America, have our own “stuff” and be on our own schedule. We’ve toured the Southwest, Southeast, the Great Lakes and spent winters in Arizona.” They said they have had their share of on-the-road events but they have also had “such good times, met new friends and love being on the road”!
Don and Mauricia were very happy with their installation here at the MCD factory . . . “What a pleasant experience! There is no one-size-fits-all (shade) but rather MCD measures carefully, installs with precision and patience and the friendly and dedicated staff made this a most satisfying experience. Thanks to each of you!!"
Not only did the Hannaman’s get interior shades, they also decided to get wheel covers for their coach. You were great folks to have on the lot and we wish you well on your travels. Come back and see us sometime. |

On The Lot with Leonard and Argyle Malecha
The Malecha’s, who hail from Arizona, pulled into the lot with their 2010 Itasca Sanova motorhome late in August. They were here at the factory getting their entire coach outfitted with MCD American Duo™ Day/Night shades. This also included the powered windshield shades.
Leonard and Argyle along with their dog, Missy Ann, were at the recent Winnebago Rally in Forest City, Iowa. They saw MCD shades in the new Winnebago models and knew they wanted the easy functioning and great looking shades in their new motorhome. They decided to take a trip to McKinney, Texas and get them installed.
When asked what their favorite travel destinations were, Leonard replied, “Going to rallies. We are also going to Florida in December so we can pick some fresh fruit in the orchards there.” The Malecha’s enjoy traveling to different states and just relaxing!
They were very happy with their shade installation and decided to get wheel covers as well. Their final comment was that our installer, Andrew, was “top notch”!
We are glad you enjoyed your visit to our new factory location and know the new day/night shades will be appreciated when down in the sunny south!

On The Lot with John and Penny Repp
The Repp’s and their dog MO (short for MOPAR), arrived in McKinney late in August. They were driving a 40’ 2003 Alpine Class A coach. Since MCD “appears to be the best product available” according to John, they wanted American Duo™ Day/Night shades for the coach and the same for their windshield. John and Penny had ordered the shades at an earlier time so, when the Repp's arrived, the shades were build and ready for installation.
John, being a bit of a handyman, elected to install the house shades himself. MCD techs installed the windshield in their coach. We have found more and more people choosing to install their manual house shades themselves.
As far as traveling, the Repp’s tour all of the U.S. and Canada. They like to drive on secondary roads and spend time in small towns, enjoying what they have to offer. John said, “On long trips we plan a destination with NO scheduled arrival time.” They like their Alpine for its quality and mid-entry door in a diesel pusher motorhome. John and Penny have been RVers for 30 years and are currently full timers.
A final note, John said they were pleased with the appearance, efficiency and quality of the MCD product. Also the personal care and consideration each employee gave them was appreciated. “MCD was extremely accommodating and we appreciated the knowledge of the technicians,” John commented.
We hope you both will enjoy your travels and come back and visit us again when near McKinney, Texas. Hey John…Want a job installing MCD shades? |

On The Lot with Alice and Richard Johnson
The Johnson’s drove their 2006 Fleetwood Bounder into the MCD lot to get a new look for their coaches interior. A look which involved removing their pleated shades in the house portion of the coach and installing new MCD Day/Night shades. They were excited about the changeover because they wanted MCD shades ever since they saw them at the Fleetwood Rally in Du Quoin, Illinois on many other coaches. Alice and Richard also decided to have the entire cockpit, including the windshield, fitted with MCD shades.
Retired with a home on the water with a boat and pool in Florida, the Johnson’s love RVing. They love it because of the interesting people you meet on the road. “We can stay as long as we want and get to know the locals and areas,” said Alice. “Conversation is not all about pasts, grandchildren (of which we have 31 between us), eating out or illnesses. We talk about places we’ve seen and want to see and we share ideas and how to care for our RV homes.”
Richard and Alice like to travel out west. “For us, the west offers the best places to see and relax and also the shortest distances to drive between places. Love the National Parks and staying there to attend the Ranger Programs. We also like visiting friends and family wherever we go. We spend from three to five months in the summer on the road.” The couple has been RVing for 25 years!
Alice mentioned that they were “very happy” with their new MCD Shades. “Peggy and Jim made our stay fun as we shared happy hour and visited with them and others here at MCD getting work done.”
We enjoyed having you both “on the lot” and wish you a safe journey. Enjoy your new products from MCD on your travels…

On The Lot with John and Patty Kraus
As the 2007 Winnebago Adventurer pulled into the lot at MCD, we knew John and Patty Kraus were the occupants. They have been traveling in an RV for 12 years and wanted to get their Adventurer retrofitted with MCD American Duo™ windshield shades. “We had seen them in some of the new Winnebago units and went online to research the product,” said Patty.
“We spent 26 years traveling with the military and we had the dream of being able to RV once we had raised our children,” Patty remembered. “We started out in the 1970’s with a travel trailer when John was sent to Alaska. We then bought our first Class A and we were hooked!”
The Kraus’ love Florida and meeting all of the wonderful people along the way. On their first visit there, they were able to watch a shuttle launch from Jetty Park on the Florida coast!
John and Patty said they were very happy with their windshield shade install and appreciate everyone’s efforts at MCD in accomplishing a difficult windshield installation. Starting with Peggy at the Winnebago Grand National Rally to Christina here at the factory and finally installers Andrew and Brandon, thank you.
John and Patty, we appreciate your kind words and hope you have many safe journeys and adventures in your Winnebago. We’re sure your new MCD windshield shades will come in handy to cool your coach and block the UV rays while in Florida or where ever you travel.

On The Lot with Allen and Rita Hanson
One of the first arrivals to the new MCD Innovations Campus was Allen and Rita Hanson. Along with their dog, Daisy, the Hanson's came to MCD in their Class A 2007 Holliday Rambler Ambassador. They were scheduled to have their entire coach outfitted with MCD Shades, including the windshield.
Some background on the Hanson's...Allen is retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of nuclear submarine service and then retired from the State of Ohio. Allen, Rita and Daisy travel around the country working for the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA, assisting victims of hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and various other natural disasters that may strike.
Daisy is their constant companion and vies with Rita for the co-pilots seat when they are on the road. When they are not with FEMA, the three of them love seeing the country and just "following the front wheels". The Hanson's maintain a home and farm in the Blue Grass Country of Kentucky, when they can find the time!
Thank you for coming down to McKinney, Texas and choosing MCD Day/Night Shades. It was a pleasure to have you here on the lot! |

On The Lot with Glen and Cheri Stanley
How long do people full time in a motorhome, fifth wheel or pull-behind? We’re not sure, but one of our recent On The Lot couples have been on the road, full timing, for 18 years! They pulled into MCD in early July to have their 39’ 2000 Bounder retrofitted with MCD American Duo™ Day/Night shades in their living room and kitchen as well as their windshield.
“The MCD rally representatives were wonderful. They knew the product and had great patience with us.” Glen and Cheri visited the MCD booth at the recent Fleetwood Rally in Du Quoin, Illinois. They were tired of dealing with their pleated shades and saw that Fleetwood was putting MCD shades into several of the new coaches seen at the rally. The Stanley's knew that there had to be a better alternative than the pleated shades they had...and MCD was the solution.
“We are very happy with the new installation. The staff here (at MCD) is great and the “Boys” (MCD installers) were a pleasure to have working on our coach!”
Glen is retired law enforcement from Glendale, California. “We have traveled to 49 states in the motorhome. Hawaii takes an airplane, but we have been there too. Our favorite place is Yosemite National Park, North Pines Campground. Yosemite holds a lot of memories. All we do now is travel and will continue to do so until one of us can no longer roam this beautiful country of ours,” said Cheri. Currently their home base is Hernando, Mississippi.
Being RVers for 38 years says a lot! MCD hopes you enjoy many more years on the road and now you can do so more comfortably with your new MCD shades!
